For many years, the doctors at Barley Clough had worked with another developer, but had struggled to find a suitable site for a new development. UHD was invited to find a solution and we quickly used our lateral thinking skills, utilising a traffic island, opposite the old surgery.
The three GP practices wanted to work together but remain independent. We solved this by designing a communal central hub that works well for patients.
Reducing GPs' running costs is always one of our main priorities. We have continued to invest in the building and in 2013 a 40.5kW solar panel scheme was retrofitted to the development.
In 2017, UHD helped the practice to secure BAU funding to fit out the 120m² of expansion space. This created four additional clinical rooms and waiting area providing the practice with much needed space to accommodate the increasing patient list size.
