Lees, Oldham, Lancashire
It was important that we chose a developer that would listen to us and deliver what we wanted and not what they thought we needed. UHD did exactly this. They listened to what we said and the building reflects this throughout. It is exactly how we imagined it would be and delivers everything that we hoped it would deliver. Once the design of the building was agreed, we continued to be involved throughout and received vital support from UHD at every stage. Practices only go through this process once and therefore it is important that you make the right decision from the outset. Choosing UHD to provide us with our fabulous new building was definitely the right decision. It has ticked every box for us and has given us a building that will enable us to develop new services and change the ways in which we work, in what is now a competitive market.
Alison Wallace, Practice Manager, Lees Medical Practice

The Lees Medical Practice development is a visionary medical centre with a focus on the environment and sustainability. We are delighted that our intelligent design achieved BREEAM Excellent status and was one of only five buildings in the UK to be shortlisted in the Healthcare category for the prestigious BREEAM Awards 2014.

The Lees scheme is a milestone project in the UHD portfolio. Exploring the latest advances in building technologies and pushing the boundaries allowed UHD to deliver the most sustainable development in its portfolio at the time. From the outset, the aim was to achieve BREEAM Excellent. The success of Lees allowed UHD to develop and refine the most sustainable and cutting-edge technologies in its mission to deliver the highest performance buildings.

Through the use of innovative technologies we created a sustainable development that is exceptionally economical to run. The doctors’ previous surgery was restrictive, dark and non-compliant. The new scheme allows for the provision of more services and is both light and spacious with a double-height atrium creating a superior working atmosphere. The building delivers large and ambient consulting rooms, a treatment room for minor surgery as well as generous meeting facilities for the community.

A comprehensive Building Management System allows the remote monitoring of all the building systems and is actively used to ensure maximum efficiency and reduced energy consumption.

Car parking and security were important factors to the practice and our advanced supervision and security system, along with ample secure parking has been well received by both staff and patients.

Demand for space in this state-of-the-art new build meant the remaining 100m² of expansion space was quickly fitted out, providing additional services including Ultrasound and office accommodation.
